SmartWay Transport Partner
SmartWay is the freight program run by the U.S. EPA and Natural Resources Canada. Partners track their fuel use and emissions and work to bring them down. Each year we report our fuel and freight data, and shippers can use SmartWay carrier data for their own supplier and emissions reporting.
What we do every day

Team driving
80% of our trucks run with two drivers. One truck covers a long lane without overnight layovers, so the same freight moves with fewer trucks on the road.
Less idle time
Drivers shut the engine down instead of idling at docks, borders and breaks. Dispatch reviews Samsara idle and driving reports and coaches drivers.
Trailer side skirts
Aerodynamic side skirts on our 53' trailers cut the wind drag under the trailer at highway speed, so the truck burns less fuel on every mile.
Fuel-saving, safer tires
Low rolling resistance tires, kept at the right pressure and checked every pre-trip. Good tires save fuel and stop better, so they're a safety tool too.
Paperless where we can
Wherever paper isn't required, we go digital: electronic logs, live tracking updates, online driver applications and digital files. Paperless proof of delivery is our next step.
One trailer, less waiting
No transload, plus drop-and-hook and trailer pools, so trucks spend less time in line burning fuel.
Maintained on schedule
Regular maintenance and annual safety inspections keep engines, tires and brakes working the way they should, and a well-tuned engine burns cleaner.
Recycling in the shop
Used oil, filters, batteries and tires go to licensed recyclers, not the landfill.

We pledge to add electric trucks to the CFX fleet, starting with shorter regional and yard work, and to grow their share as long-haul range and charging along our lanes improve.
Newer, cleaner trucks
Each time we replace a truck, the new one comes with the latest, lower-emission engine and fuel-saving features.
Skirts and fuel-saving tires on every trailer
Every new trailer joins the fleet with side skirts and low rolling resistance tires.
Cut idle time year over year
We set idle targets for the fleet with Samsara data and coach drivers to beat them.
